Headsets

Discussion in 'Playstation 4' started by frostrich, Jan 2, 2014.

  1. So yes I've finally succumbed and ordered a PS4 which should arrive next week.
I'm now after a headset - I read the one in the box isn't much cop....

What headsets have you guys got? Does it work properly on the PS4 and are you happy with it?

    Cheers

  2. Yay ... well done bud.

Astro A40 and mixamp is my suggestion. Wired or wireless depending how close you are to the TV.

  3. I use the Astro A40s.They work with the ps4 and sound superb.

  4. Turtle beach X41s plus an extra chat lead, sound great to me.

  5. Tritton pro plus work a treat, wired but the cable is about 3-4 metres

  6. Nice one Rich, be good to have ya back with us.

I'm using the Sharkoon X-tatic V3 Digital and i'm not amazingly happy with them. People are often saying they can't hear me very well. But i'm not sure this is anything to do with the PS4 as i recall back on the PS3 it frequently seemed i'd say something and no-one would reply (unless that was you fuckers just ignoring me).

  7. It's probably that accent mate.

  8. I had the same problems with my Sharkoons on the PS3. The problem was the mic is easy to twist without realising and in the end the connection breaks (it starts to degrade before this happens), I had to get a new mic from Sharkoon. My headset was still under guarantee and they sent me one from Germany free of charge. It may be worth contacting them to see if they will send you a new mic http://www.sharkoon.com/?q=en/content/technical-support .

  9. Cheers Runcorn :thumb up:

It's definetly out of warranty, and i picked them up secondhand from Swayndo anyway, so i didn't have a warranty in the first place. I'll definetly look into buying a new mic for them though.

  10. Good luck weaver, I tried to get a replacement breakouot cable for mine form Sharkoon, digitals are now obsolete (replaced by the pro) no spares available, sharkoon support were not interested.

  11. That's disheartening to hear. Hopefully they'll either still have some mics or the mics from newer models will be compatible.

  12. Fingers crossed mate

If anyone comes across a breakout cable, give us a shout

  13. Always a few A40s on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 1011473106. The Mixamp is really a wonderful piece of kit. Buy that and plug in any HiFi headphones you have.

  14. I picked up some px5 wireless headphones, 100quid at the time.

    Dolby 5.1/7.1 Surround Sound,

handy as well pairing up your phone with them then when the phone rings you dont even have to take the headset off.

Be hard pushed to get anything that sounds as good at the price. Not be easy found now! But worth a look around.

Had them about two years now build quality is really good as well and going wireless you'll never look back.

  15. Thanks for the responses.

What do you think of this? :-

  16. Really good pairing. The maybe aren't as open sounding as some, but are well liked. Pinky Floyd uses a Siberia and I used to use their Spectrum headset.

  17. Pah. I was too late this morning so it was snapped up by someone else. Snooze=lose.
No rush I guess. Will wait for the January patch to see what options are available. Reckon I'll be willing to spend about 100 so brand new a40s + amp is ouyside my budget.

  18. You should be able to grab a mixamp for ~ £50, then take your pick of PC headsets or use existing headphones with a £1 clip mic.

  19. Sharkoon customer support directed me to a site that sells replacement mics, and it's only £4.39. Result

Edit: Ignore that, they want £9.90 for postage and a £7.90 "cash on delivery fee". Can go fuck themselves.

Edit 2: Thought it was odd that a "cash on delivery" fee was showing up as part of total when paying online, seems i missed the part where you can select pre-payment. Gonna blame lack of sleep.

  20. Still using my PX5 with a Turtle Beach chat lead. It is working well.
