PS4 Tips & Tricks

Discussion in 'Playstation 4' started by Nazz, Dec 3, 2013.

1. Yes ! It'll be saved. Then you can keep on doing that to have however many awesome moments in game.
2. Check it in notification preferences mate.
3. Got the psn message but not with a attachment only the message "my name is still banned! see where the part name should be"

can't be allowed cross messages or the screen capture isn't allowed on the ps3.
4. Download the android psn app tam, might be able to view it on that
5. Good to know we can send messages cross platform to the PS3 though. Tam, the screen capture just showed my name as "N*** ". For some reason I believe only you would remember details like that ;) .

*Also found out today that trophies from PS4 will get included on your PS3 status but it wont show up on the trophies list. It's just like Vita trophies.

*The voice commands do work but after saying the name of the game, you must say "Start" to load the game. This got me stumped for a while :wallbash:
6. I believe they show up on your trophy list if you're in online mode.

It even says you have to say start at the voice command bar at the bottom of the screen :rotfl:
7. For youtube with a layout ala PS3 app, go to http://www.youtube.com/TV on your PS4 browser
8. :rotfl: makes more sense now, next gen technology.. last gen's swear filter in place ;) :rotfl:
9. Here is a post that someone made on HUKD, it might be of interest...

The following write up is all about the Share button, trimming videos, uploading them and getting them on YouTube. If you know all about it, feel free to move on X) if you haven't really messed with it yet, there's acouple of good pointers. Cheers.

I've been messing with the Share feature for a bit this evening and been uploading videos on YouTube, the 2 default ways are either Facebook or Twitter. To get them on YouTube you still have to share them to Facebook or Twitter initially but you can then download them from Facebook or Twitter using this website: http://en.savefrom.net/ and then upload them from your PC to your YouTube account.

http://en.savefrom.net/ asks for the link where to download the video from. To get the link for you video, go to your facebook page and then your videos. Click the video you want to save and at the bottom of the video there is a options tab, click this and click 'Get link'. Copy this link to http://en.savefrom.net/ and select download. Make sure you right click on MP4 HD (better quality) and click Save Link As. This will then save the video to your specified location. Upload to YouTube as you normally would and you're done.

Hopefully a direct to YouTube option will be added in a patch on the PS4 but this is the easiest way to get the videos to YouTube right now.

On to the Share feature itself for those again that don't know, video's can be trimmed so you only have to Share the specific piece you want people to view. Select the video you want to share and after logging in to either Facebook or Twitter, you get the option to Trim. L2 marks the start point, R2 marks the end point. Preview it to make sure you have what you want and select Trim. This will now make a new file with just the piece you wanted to share, the actual 15 minute video will still be available if you want to pull other pieces from the same video.

Deleting unwanted Pictures and Videos is not done in the Share menu bizarrely, you have to go to System, System Storage Management, Capture. In the capture folder you can now delete unwanted captures.
10. Useful info, thanks. I was wondering how the trimming worked.

You can also delete shared files by going to profile > shared (or something like that). I was doing it earlier.
11. If you get tired of seeing multiple entries of "So&so playing this&that" on the What's New page, go to Settings> PSN> Link with other service> Facebook > Publish Settings , then uncheck the option for 'Publish GameEvent Stories'. That should relieve some of the clutter.

If a game activity has been published , you can select it on the Whats New section, open it by clicking X button, press the Options button on the DS4 and select Delete.
